William Alwyn Workshop Concert, February 2023
KCLSO collaborated with the Choir of King’s College London to put on the first performance of William Alwyn’s forgotten oratorio, ‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell', Part 1, directed by Dr Joe Fort.
This work was a huge undertaking for the composer, who devoted five years of his life to it at the start of his career, setting the text by William Blake. The work was never performed, and this was perhaps on account of its considerable size and complexity.
The workshop performance took place in February 2023 in King’s College London chapel.
